My Present Skin Care Regimen

I'm not sure if it was my doctor who mentioned this or it was something I found out on my own, but the best skin care regimen that works for me is product rotation; rotating between different brands and different product types (like lotions and creams).

It works for me because my skin is so finicky, sometimes it tolerates a certain skin product then on some days, it doesn't. I also noticed that after a while (3 or so months), products don't work as well as they did the first time. These are what I'm using right now:

I might be a bit biased when it comes to lotion/cream textures because I've been using them my entire life, what my feel light and heavy for me, might not be the same for you. But, I'll try my best to describe the products as simply and straight-forward as I can. Yay! :) [just wanted to insert that in]

I won't delve into the details of each product but I'll link you to their respective websites in case you want more information on them.

I used to never liked lotions before I came across Itch Defense. It has a thicker texture compared to ordinary lotions but doesn't have the heavy weight of cream. I use it daily after I shower, it moisturizes my dry skin so well. The best thing about this product is its ceramide infused, which serves as skin's protective barrier against irritants.

I consider this more as an anti-flare up cream than a moisturizing cream. It's an over-the-counter product here in the Philippines, I think it goes by another name in the US. This is a god send for me. My doctor advices applying it on affected areas only, especially when I have flare ups. It's so much easier to control flare ups with this product. I use it in the morning.

It's basically the same as Physiogel AI, just with added sunblock. I use this on exposed areas instead of just the AI when going out.

  • Atopiclair ointment

I've only been using this for a month but so far, so good. I started using right after a flare up and applied this on lesions. I continued applying them to recurrent lesions even when they were already healed up. It's supposed to put AD in remission for longer.

  • Egyptian Magic Cream

This has been one of my recent discoveries. It's supposed to be made from natural ingredients. It has the texture of petroleum jelly but a bit lighter. When applied to skin, it doesn't have the thick, gooey feeling of a jelly, it melts right on it. I use it over dry patches and it solves the problem right away!

The most important thing to remember when starting to build your regimen is that for most products, you don't see immediate results. Products work best when used continuously and not just stop after a few applications. Always observe your skin when starting a new product, and always be patient. Skin products need time to work.
